You can improve the marking of coated metal and on tactical arms by using the right laser for the job. CLC has developed a new line of laser systems designed to mark on various tactical arms such as knives, bullets, guns, firearms, etc. We compare a before-and-after view of a problem where the contrast was not optimized on a promotional item for a large brand in the hunting industry. The metal underneath is brass, and the brass is coated with a special coating that is black in color. The laser ablates the coating to reveal a logo and text.

The customer thought that a CO2 laser would do the job just fine, but as the “Before” picture below shows.

Do you see how the contrast of the logo is faded? There are not crisp edges and the logo does not show up very well. When we were presented with this problem, we decided to use our Tactical ArmsMark™ knife and firearms laser marking and engraving system to improve this process. The results are stunning! In the image below, we can see the laser mark on the promotional item has been improved significantly!
